Overview

Patient safety and product effectiveness are the moral, not merely regulatory, foundation of all activity in FDA-regulated industries. Every Warning Letter, recall and enforcement action is, at its core, an ethical failure with clinical consequences.

This 16-hour Professional Certificate Course introduces formal ethical theory (deontology, consequentialism, virtue ethics), values-based and servant leadership, patient safety and product effectiveness as an ethical foundation, and the identification and management of conflicts of interest, including 21 CFR Part 54 financial disclosure.

The Introductory course prepares participants for the Advanced level (HUM-500-A), where off-label promotion, data integrity, whistle-blower accountability and professional codes of conduct are developed in depth.

What you will learn
Apply the principal ethical frameworks (deontology, consequentialism, virtue ethics) to professional decisions.
Analyze enforcement and recall cases to identify ethical failures.
Differentiate ethical, legal and regulatory obligations in the medical-technology context.
Evaluate organizational-culture indicators that promote accountability and patient safety.
Communicate ethical reasoning to mixed audiences.

Professional relevance

The Introductory course gives professionals across devices, pharma and combination products the formal ethical frameworks needed to make defensible decisions under pressure, rather than relying on intuition.
