Recommended prerequisite: completion of the Introductory level for this training, or relevant professional experience subject to Aleph University review.

Overview

Building on the physics and imaging of the Introductory level, this Advanced course develops the safety, regulatory and emerging-technology dimensions of diagnostic ultrasound.

This 32-hour Professional Certificate Course covers ultrasound safety under the AIUM/FDA Output Display Standard (mechanical and thermal indices); contrast agents and shear-wave elastography; the regulatory expectations of IEC 60601-2-37 and the FDA 510(k) pathway; and miniaturized point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) and AI-assisted image analysis, with reference to the FDA Predetermined Change Control Plan (PCCP) framework.

By the end, participants can draft an ultrasound-system specification, justify safety decisions on the basis of the mechanical and thermal indices and anticipate the essential-performance requirements of IEC 60601-2-37 for an ultrasound device.

What you will learn
Justify ultrasound safety decisions with reference to the mechanical and thermal indices.
Evaluate the essential-performance requirements of IEC 60601-2-37 for an ultrasound device.
Build an ultrasound-system specification document.
Assess contrast and shear-wave elastography applications and their regulatory considerations.
Analyze POCUS and AI-assisted ultrasound with reference to the FDA PCCP framework.
