Overview

Clinical engineering is the discipline that keeps the medical technology deployed in a hospital safe, performing and compliant across its whole lifecycle. From technology assessment for a capital-purchase decision through commissioning, preventive maintenance and performance assurance, the clinical-engineering department underpins the hospital’s clinical operation.

This 16-hour Professional Certificate Course introduces the scope and role of the clinical-engineering department, the methodology of Health Technology Assessment (HTA) and capital planning, procurement and commissioning, and preventive-maintenance and performance-assurance programs, with an introduction to Alternative Equipment Management (AEM).

The Introductory course prepares participants for the Advanced level (BME-619-A), where AEM programs under The Joint Commission, adverse-event investigation and reporting under 21 CFR Part 803, and post-market cybersecurity are developed in depth.

Certificate of Completion
