Medical Sciences for Engineering and Regulatory: Advanced
Connect the pathophysiology of common conditions to device categories, FDA classification and intended-use, and draft a clinical-rationale memo to support a submission.
Recommended prerequisite: completion of the Introductory level for this training, or relevant professional experience subject to Aleph University review.
Building on the anatomy and physiology of the Introductory level, this Advanced course develops the pathophysiology of the most common chronic and acute conditions and the medical technologies associated with them, so that classification, intended-use and clinical-evidence decisions rest on solid clinical reasoning.
This 32-hour Professional Certificate Course covers the endocrine system and diabetes technologies; the musculoskeletal system and orthopedic implants; the gastrointestinal system and GI devices; reproductive and developmental physiology and women’s-health / IVD platforms; and an integrated clinical case that links anatomy and physiology to device categories, FDA classification and intended-use.
By the end, participants can build a clinical-context analysis for a device category, evaluate a clinical-evidence summary with physiological reasoning and draft a clinical-rationale memo to support a regulatory submission, the medical-scientific foundation for regulatory, clinical-affairs and quality roles.
The Advanced course connects physiology explicitly to FDA classification, intended-use and clinical evidence, the reasoning that regulatory, clinical-affairs and quality professionals rely on. It prepares participants to read, write and defend the clinical rationale behind a device submission.
Participants who meet the course completion requirements receive a Certificate of Completion issued by Aleph University.
